Favorite memories

  • St. John's Fire
I can't explain why this is a favorite memory except to say that I knew it was to be our last festival living in Camphill and it was a bittersweet goodbye. It was also a wonderful sensory experience -- the sweet smell of summer clover; the taste of strawberries and cream; a gorgeous sunset; and the heat of the fire.
  • The Garden(s)
In addition to missing life on a farm, I miss the garden and the strong connection to the land we all felt while living at Dunshane.
  • Farm life
Living on a farm was wonderful! Oh my, I want to live on a farm again.
  • Sarah (Friends)
I feel lucky to have met people from all over the world and with many different personalities during our time at Camphill. I know that, for most, I am already a distant memory. They have moved on. I'm one in a long line of 'former co-workers'. But they made a difference to me and I hope I made a difference for them too.
  • Scotland (Travel)
I loved being able to travel all over Ireland, Northern Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales while we were on hiatus...wonderful opportunity for us to travel as a family.
  • Michaelmas
This is the best of Camphill -- celebrating festivals; a harvest from the land; a community working together.
  • House Trip to Dingle
I really enjoyed our time with co-workers and students, away from the community. We had a nice 'gel' as a house when we were free to be ourselves outside of the confines of the community and away from the judgment of others. It was a happy time -- good craic.
  • Around the house
The house we lived in was interesting and seems cozy looking back at photos; it seemed too big and 'dorm like' to me while I was living in it...interesting how things looks and feel different with the benefit of time and space between you. I have many happy memories of my time there but it never felt like 'home'.
  • Japanese Gardens: Walk of Life
Walking the path of life with our housemates and co-workers of one year, near the end of our time together. I wish everyone could walk the path with friends: some with different abilities; from different countries; with different points of view; some young, some older; all helping each other find their way.
